For the past few months I’ve been managing the development of new websites for a couple of our clients. Along with banging my head against my desk and wondering what I’ve gotten myself into, I’ve learned a lot about the process of designing a website start to finish. One of the most important things I learned is what the ingredients are for an efficient and effective website. If you are considering a website re-design, here are 5 things your website must have:
Good design-No matter what type of business you have or who your visitors are, your website must have a clean, professional and unique look and feel.
Content- Website content must be creative, informative and interesting. Content should be updated frequently to keep your website current and attract visitors.
Navigation- Make navigation prominent on your website to ensure visitors won’t get lost. Having navigation at the top and bottom of your site will allow visitors to search with ease.
Social Media- Once you have your social media profiles set up -Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin – make sure they are integrated through out your website. Social media profiles are a great way to direct visitors to your website.
Search Engine Marketing- Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is a cost effective and almost immediate way to drive traffic to your website. We use Google Adwords to set up PPC campaigns for our clients and we’ve seen results within the first couple weeks.
