Today is the celebration of one of the most interesting international holidays. If you’ve ever thought about partaking in your own Ferris Buller’s Day off, today is your chance [I think you might have a cold coming on]. This holiday is called Go Skateboarding Day (GSD), and its purpose is to take a step back from your obligations, and do something for the pure joy of doing it. GSD took a normal day of the week, and turned it into a day to celebrate one of the most influential activities worldwide. Go Skateboarding Day is celebrated on June 21st every year, with over 600 different events in more than 12 different countries, and is still growing.
As a creative agency, we are always looking for new means for inspiration, and this event provided that. This holiday is inspiring for more than one reason. GSD shows that one creative idea can turn into a brilliantly executed social media and marketing campaign; Also, if an idea has enough creativity to fuel it, it will spark a massive fire and continue to grow.
