When creating mobile sites for our clients’ websites, there are many things we keep in consideration. Here are a few pointers to follow when creating a mobile site:
Simplify Mobile Content: Research shows that mobile users are searching sites for immediate information such as location, hours, specials, etc. Therefore, content on a mobile site shouldn’t be identical to that of your website. Prioritize the content so mobile users can find what they are looking for quickly.
Reduce Bandwidth: Reduce bandwidth for mobile networks, which allow sites to load faster.
Test among all Platforms: Smartphone devices consist of iPhones, Androids, and sometimes BlackBerrys. Make sure your mobile site works across all platforms.
Incorporate Functionality: Since mobile users will be using their fingers to navigate, make sure buttons are large enough in size and easy to click. Also make sure links aren’t grouped together, so you can’t hit more than one at a time.
